The purpose of the Delavan Lake Improvement Association is to help protect and preserve the lake and all the land around it; to represent those who own its property, and to provide a wholesome and relaxing environment for our friends and visitors.

Strategy: Advocate for Water Quality on behalf of Delavan Lake and its watershed

The DLIA has 4 over-arching goals. They are:

1.  Advocate for Water Quality on behalf of Delavan Lake and its watershed
2.  Advocate for the creation of a dedicated lake maintenance fund
3.  Continue efforts to expand membership, education, and voter participation
4.  Strengthen liaison role throughout the planning process

Here are our plans and projects for each of the goals:

ADVOCATE FOR WATER QUALITY ON BEHALF OF DELAVAN LAKE AND ITS WATERSHED

1.  Continue participation in the Delavan Lake Watershed Initiative Plan (WIN)

2.  Continue Watershed Sign project by replacing and repairing signs as needed

3.  Acknowledge donor Guardians who contributed $250 each to the sign project

4.  Seek partnership opportunities with these organizations and others:
  • Friends of the Park
  • Delavan Historical Society
  • Delavan Garden Club
  • Delavan Lake Yacht Club
  • Delavan Lake Chamber of Commerce

5.  Contribute to public education on Clean Boats/Clean Waters

ADVOCATE FOR THE FUNDING AND COMPLETION OF THE INLET PROJECT AND A DEDICATED    LAKE MAINTENANCE FUND

1.  The Inlet project was completed in October 2011

2.  Advocate for scientific measurements of pollutants and sediments so the Town can develop
the next maintenance plan

3.  Monitor inclusion of maintenance fund in Town budget planning

CONTINUE EFFORTS TO EXPAND MEMBERSHIP, EDUCATION, AND VOTER PARTICIPATION

1.  Plan and complete a renewal campaign, new business campaign, and new homeowner  
       campaign

2.  Plan and complete a Board Member door-to-door neighbor membership program

3.  Plan and host a Lake Fair for the public

4.  Continue DLIA presence at board and committee meetings of the Town of Delavan, City of
Delavan, DLSD, and Walworth County and others as needed

5.  Develop group of local residents who can attend board and committee meetings to support
DLIA initiatives

6.  Enhance communications with members and non-members to increase DLIA visibility and lead
to increase in membership

STRENGTHEN LIAISON ROLE THROUGHOUT THE PLANNING PROCESS

1.  Watch for new development projects and monitor as necessary
