Geese impact on the lake
Geese are major contributors of phosphorus in lakes and ponds. A single adult Canada goose produces up to 1 to 2 lbs. of droppings daily, and their feces are highly concentrated with nutrients. Consequently, just four adult geese can contribute as much phosphorus to a waterway as an entire household septic system. This nutrient loading acts as a direct catalyst for eutrophication. When excessive phosphorus enters the water, it triggers massive algal blooms and rapid weed grow
