In late August the Wisconsin DNR stocked over 20,000 walleye in Delavan Lake. Then in the middle of September another 550 Musky and 1500 Crappie were added to the lake. In 2027 Delavan Lake will conduct a lake wide fish survey, until that is done only those fish could be added until the survey is complete.

Over 90 people joined Board Members from the Town of Delavan, DLIA and representatives from various lake agencies for the 4th annual Inlet/Outlet/ Brown's Channel & Sensitive Areas. Geese are major contributors of phosphorus in lakes and ponds. A single adult Canada goose produces up to 1 to 2 lbs. of droppings daily, and their feces are highly concentrated with nutrients. Consequently, just four adult geese can contribute as much phosphorus to a waterway as an entire household septic system. This nutrient loading acts as a direct catalyst for eutrophication. The DLIA has been a partner in a multi-year wetland restoration project just north of Delavan Lake's Inlet. On Sunday, July 14th, several DLIA board members met with Delavan Club homeowners at a hot dog-and-beer get together. The Delavan Club is working with the Town on a pilot project to reduce silting, and several residents had questions about that which will be taken back to the Town. This mild weather is giving us a sense of relief that we won't have more snow and icy sidewalks and driveways and plowing and shoveling... but technically we have winter until March 19th! Take some time to learn about how salt impacts the environment, especially our lake. According to Wisconsin Salt Wise, It only takes 1 teaspoon of salt to pollute 5 gallons of water to a level that is toxic for freshwater ecosystems.
